Girton Student Volunteer Scheme FAQs

A: There is not a minimum or maximum set of hours to complete. You should consider your study commitments and other activities when deciding how many hours you want to dedicate to volunteering. Please seek advice from your College Tutor. 

All volunteers who record hours on the scheme will be invited to a reception with the Mistress. Students who record more than 10 hours in an academic year will receive a certificate.

A: If you would like to nominate or recommend a charity or organisation not on the list, please email studentvolunteer@girton.cam.ac.uk

Please make sure to receive confirmation before completing the registration form. 

A: Yes, of course! There are no restrictions on when you participate. 

A: Yes, all volunteers who record hours on the scheme will be invited to a reception with the Mistress to celebrate volunteering towards the end of Lent term.

Students who record more than 10 hours in an academic year will receive a certificate. This certificate can be added to CVs as proof of service and community engagement.
