The Festival was opened by the College Visitor, The Right Hon the Baroness Hale of Richmond DBE, who unveiled a blue plaque commemorating principal founders Emily Davies and Barbara Bodichon and introduced the world premiere performance of Jasper Dommett’s ‘Fanfare to Girton’. Guests feasted on a celebratory barbecue, accompanied by an evening of entertainment featuring the Brass Band of the The Royal Welsh College of Music directed by Dr Robert Childs, comedians Jonathan Mayor, Cansu Karabiyik and Dr Phil Hammond, and close up magicians Tony Rix and Terry Machin.
